The simplest joint on a threaded line
Sockets are used wherever two pipe lengths meet on a straight run, so they are usually the highest-quantity fitting on a threaded installation. Count one per joint between lengths, plus spares for repairs. For a change of size on the same run, the Reduction Socket does the same job between ¾ and ½ inch.
